A woman was woken from her sleep at a location in Meath at 2.13am by a trespasser she thought was trying to break into her house, a court has been told. Before a vacation sitting of Trim District Court was Barry McNally (33) with an address at Watergate Street, Navan. Solicitor Maurice Regan told Judge Catherine Hayden that his client had been in custody since 22nd July last.
A Garda told the court that a woman was woken by her sleep. When CCTV was checked, a man could be seen walking around at her house and trying to get in her door. Mr Regan entered a plea of guilty on his client’s behalf. The court heard that defendant had a number of previous convictions for unlawful escape from custody, driving a vehicle while intoxicated, driving without insurance, theft and robbery for which he received a six-year suspended prison sentence, possession of articles.
Mr Regan said that his client was in custody at present. He had entered a detoxicant programme while in prison. Judge Catherine Hayden put the case back to 19th of next month for consideration by Judge Catherine Hayden.
