A man who has seven previous convictions for driving without insurance has been disqualified from driving for eight years. Daniel Radu of no fixed address appeared at Trim District Court on motor insurance and theft charges. The court was told that defendant had stolen €162 worth of goods at Tesco. He had been detected and detained at the scene.
The property had been recovered. He has a total of 19 previous convictions. Defending solicitor Ciara Burke told Judge Stephanie Coggans that defendant had been living in Ireland for 12 years and had two children. He was serving a sentence in prison but is now drug free. He hoped to go back to work in construction when released.
The judge imposed a two- month prison sentence and an eight-year disqualification on the insurance charge and a €200 fine on the theft charge.
