Four local food businesses – three in Meath and one in Louth – have been hit with orders issued during August from the Food Safety Authority of Ireland. The food outlets in Meath are Wau Asian Cuisine Limited, Bridge Street, Trim (Closure order issued including onsite sales, takeaway and internet sale for lack of cleaning and sanitation of the premises and equipment, lack of handwashing facilities, lack of handwashing observed by food handlers, unsafe storage practices in the coldroom where sushi ingredients stored, unsafe handling practices
by food handlers, false and misleading information provided regarding the preparation and handling of sushi.)
Super Chef Takeaway, Unit 5, Ashbourne Court, Bridge Street, Ashbourne (Closure order because premises not kept in a clean condition, lack of regular thorough cleaning in food handling and storage areas, hand contact surfaces dirty with dirt, greases and food debris build-up, grease traps overflowing, floors unclean and engrained with dirt, sink of raw chicken breasts full of water and defrosting for an unknown period of time, among other factors.)
Small Chops and More, The Courtyard, Baker Hall, Navan (Closure order because the operator provided no evidence to demonstrate that all stages of production, processing and distribution of food under their control satisfied the relevant hygiene requirements of EU legislation and filed to meet relevant hygiene regulations.)
McDonalds Restaurant, The Waterfront, Drogheda (Closure order applying to a storage unit at the side of the premises. |Food inspector found there were rodent droppings observed on shelving and food equipment within the storage area. PPE and cleaning equipment as well as paper roll used for drying workers’ hands were stored in the unit leading to a significant risk of cross contamination.)
