Introducing Mr Woz and Meath Live’s television review column Woz on the telly, here are some of Mr Woz’s thoughts and opinions;

Extra Time Tony Cascarino (RTE 1 Monday)

An hour long documentary that left viewers feeling a bit like fans thought of its subjects playing career, good enough but could have been better.

Cascarino’s ghost writer Paul Kimmage was featured and once that happened you just knew the subject of performance enhancing drugs would get a mention, and sure enough Cascarino admitted that during his time at Olympic Marseille, injections were available to those who needed them. Where the doc broke new ground was in revealing that Tony had scored when playing away from home, and not just on the pitch either, a divorce followed and a second marriage soon afterward. Cascarino came across as satisfied with his life and why wouldn’t he be after making a success of his career Not the most riveting hours viewing but not a bad watch either.

The Money List (Rte 1 Saturday)

The premise of this quiz is that two random people are made into a team, shown a subject and have to name as many items as they can that will figure on a list relating to it, they get cash prizes and at the end one team plays for €15,000. Hosted by Baz Ashmawy who is on telly almost as often as Roy Keane these days, one subject last week was Dubliners songs. I stopped when I reached 20, the winners in the studio named eight, EIGHT!!!!! There’s no accounting for the musical taste of todays youth I guess, but not being able to name more than eight songs by Irelands best known balladeers is shameful carry on altogether.

Fair City (weekly RTE 1)

Hayley appears to be having some kind of post natal depression, and its not being helped by the persistent presence of Ger who wants to do everything for her and who insists she knows best.. She should know better after all the actress who plays her also figured as baby delivering Sharon Curley in The Snapper.
