Meath Live spoke to some of the original businesses that opened their doors at Johnstown Shopping Centre back in October 2004. Twenty one years ago, sisters Sandra and Carol opened Bennett Opticians seeing the need for their services in the locality. With a growing population in Johnstown and surrounds, the business has grown from year to year. In their own words Sandra, pictured above, tells their story;
”This year marks a truly special milestone for us — 21 years in business as a family-run opticians, proudly serving the community we call home. For more than two decades, we’ve had the privilege of caring for the eyesight of generations of local families, from children’s first eye tests to helping grandparents find the perfect pair of glasses. It’s been a journey filled with growth, learning, and heartfelt connections, and we couldn’t be more grateful to everyone who has been part of it.
”As a family who both lives and works in the area, our roots here run deep. This community has shaped who we are — both as a business and as individuals. Over the years, we’ve shared countless conversations, smiles, and stories across the counter. We’ve celebrated milestones with our customers, watched children grow up, and even fitted glasses for the sons and daughters of our very first clients. These relationships are what make our work so rewarding, and they’re the reason we still love what we do every single day.
”Running a small, family business comes with its share of highs and lows — from the challenges of changing times to the joy of seeing familiar faces return year after year.
