It’s Navan Racecourse’s final meeting of the Flat season, and today’s seven-race card features three handicaps and four maiden races. Read on for a full preview of and tips for the Navan card, courtesy of Boyle Sports, who provide all the latest horse racing betting.

The first race is a two-year-olds’ maiden run over six furlongs (2.12). Five of the 16 runners are debutants, but they have it all to prove at present. The best of those with a previous run are currently Final Boss, Michael’s Well and Ocean’s Breath, all of whom placed upon their last starts. The latter did so best of all and should be the one to beat, but the ground is softer today, which might leave room for Andrew Slattery’s Merry Blacksmith, who made a good debut on heavy ground at Listowel and might be able to do better in the testing conditions.

Next is a six-furlong handicap (2.47). Towards the bottom end of the handicap, Paul Flynn’s Browned Off could have a chance, as might Steel Magnolia, whose soft ground credentials are better. 11-year-old veteran Only Spoofing has been consistently in the first three home on his last three starts and, given seven pounds by his rider, could run a big race at the top of the handicap.

Race three is a five-furlong maiden for two-year-olds (3.22). Adrian Murray’s Neebrook is the only first-timer here and, while he could prove to be nice, it’s easier to look in the direction of Cluain Peata, who was decent on debut at Naas over six furlongs, and Ennoble, who placed last time out at Cork. Bad Boy Rizz, though, is the most experienced and has the breeding to manage soft ground, so he could be the one under Colin Keane.

The fourth race is another five-furlong maiden, this time for those aged three and older (3.57). Star Allure can be quite good on soft ground, so could finish near the front, but the likes of Lunigiana in a first-time visor makes more appeal. Glory To Be is a consistent sort too who can go well on this ground, so ought to run a good race.

A five-furlong handicap follows (4.30). Charles Weld’s Verified could be an option, based on a promising run over six furlongs last time at Cork, but Mickey The Steel looks even better having run for top four places in big fields on his last two starts. Arklow Lad also ought to be involved, having been runner up in two of his last three races and the winner of the other.

Flashback to last years successful weekend as we get ready for the Navan Racing Festival on Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th November 2025.

The second to last race is a mile and three quarter maiden (5.02). Aidan O’Brien’s Lord Byron looks very promising on pedigree, but if he’s needing blinkers on only his second ever start, that’s not a hugely enticing factor. Jessica Harrington’s Marazion also wears first-time headgear, but with more runs under her belt, this should be help rather than an indication of any undesirable temperament traits.

Finally, racing wraps up with a handicap over the same trip (5.32). Back down to his original handicap mark, God The Highness could be a big player here with the three-year-olds’ allowance. Charlie Brow’n should be able to get involved too with Wayne Lordan in the saddle, as should Black Soul with useful claimer Jack Cleary taking the reins and giving five pounds.
