The Blue Riband Greyhound Boyle Sports Derby will be decided tonight at the Ringsend track. In a final that Bouncing Monarch is the strong favourite to lift the spoils having won all the previous five rounds without defeat. The Michael O’Donovan trained dog is available from BoyleSports at 4/7 on, with good value available on the other top class contenders.

Finals are finals and there are no certainties in any final and maybe around 9.30 pm this evening,  the trap 2 favourite will justify the tag of hot favourite. One of the outsiders Im Here owned by Kildare based owner Aidan Commerford Snr is quietly hoping his charge can cause an upset. On Rte Radio Sport they commented, Im Here in trap 6 will aim to become the first Greyhound to win the Puppy Derby and the Irish Derby in the same year.

His owner, Aidan Commerford, from just outside Kildare Town, was recently inducted into the sports hall of fame, and he praised trainer Peter Cronin for having his charge consistently in top shape. ”He’s done a fantastic job, when you think of it.” Adding,” I’m  very happy with the draw, and I feel he has to break a little bit better than he has been breaking, and he has to make the corner.”

That essentially plants the seed to success in this intriguing final were all owners and connections will be living the dream and hoping all goes well.
