A 27-year-old man who carried out five thefts in local stores has been told by a judge at the local court “you’re not very good at this., are you?”
Judge Derek Cooney was speaking to Patrick Reaney, Castle Meadows, Trim who was charged at Trim District Court with thefts of various amounts of goods at Aldi, Choice, Centra, TK Maxx, and Tesco, Navan on dates last year. Defendant was said to have 44 previous convictions, 17 of them for theft. Solicitor Ms Burke said that her client had put in a plea to all charges. The judge imposed a six-month prison sentence.
Separately, Colm Traynor Brennan (34), Dunville Avenue, Navan appeared on a charge of theft of €44 worth of alcohol from Aldi, Trim Road, Navan on 13 th August 2022. Solicitor Pauric Murray said his client had had a problem with alcohol but had taken steps to sort it out and had now got a new job in Navan. A child had been born to the family a few days ago. The judge directed him to pay €44 compensation along with a €250 charitable donation to charity. If paid by 14 th January next he would strike out the charge.
