Uisce Éireann is delivering a national programme of targeted investment in water and wastewater networks to enable housing delivery and drive social and economic growth and has recently commenced a major infrastructure project to upgrade the wastewater network in Farganstown, representing a €22 million investment in the wider Navan area.

This vital project will increase the capacity of the wastewater network to enable the development of 1,600 new homes in the short term, while also allowing for significant further development in the longer term. The works involve the construction of a new wastewater pumping station and 2.4km of sewer pipeline to cater for the future growth and development of the Navan area. These works are being carried out as part of Uisce Éireann’s Growth and Development Programme and commenced in October 2025.

This significant upgrade will enhance the capacity and resilience of the existing wastewater infrastructure, providing more reliable services for current and future residents and businesses, and accommodate future population growth of the surrounding area. James Browne T.D., Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, welcomed the commencement of this vital work in the Farganstown area.

“The commencement of this project is very welcome news for the community in Farganstown, Navan. Improvements in the capacity of the wastewater network will bring tangible benefits and provide the required infrastructure to service existing and new developments in the area, including much-needed new housing.

“Continued investment in public water services is essential to facilitating housing delivery. That is why in the recent Budget and through the National Development Plan we have increased Uisce Éireann’s funding to accelerate the delivery of water infrastructure and support the development of new homes across the country.”
