Following a weekend that saw all three Meath sides crash out of the Leinster club championships the county committee appear set to take drastic action to correct the situation. Two proposals have been voiced to clubs. The first of which would see the sixteen senior teams divided into an A & B championship. Alternatively the SFC would be reduced to 12 teams which would see the intermediate sector relegate nine teams to junior.
A source told Meath Live, ” The rationale appears to be that the SFC would see teams face stiffer opposition than is the case now and as a result they would be more competitive in the provincial clashes.” It is now 21 years since Skryne became the last Meath side to contests a Leinster decider while it is two years further back since Dunshaughlin became the last side to win one.
