A 40-year-old man with a Navan address has a history of drink driving and has been disqualified from driving on four occasions starting in 2002 has again been before a court on a similar charge. Mark O’Donoghue, Follistown, Navan was charged with drink driving after being stopped by a Garda at Gort na Glaise, Navan on 12 th August last.
Trim District Court was told that when stopped by Garda Nolan defendant was subsequently shown to have an alcohol-breath reading of 46/100. The court heard that he had 29 previous convictions. Starting in 2023 he was disqualified from driving for two years, followed by a further one-year ban with a €300 fine, followed by a four-year ban with €500 fine. In 2012 he was given a seven-year disqualification with a €750 fine and five months imprisonment.
He was represented in court by barrister Paul Noctor. Judge Eirinn McKiernan was told that defendant was now off alcohol for over three years and he was also being treated by a counsellor. The judge imposed a four-month prison sentence suspended for 12 months along with a four-year driving ban.
