A 54-year-old man with a Co Cavan address who appeared at Navan District Court last Friday (27th March), charged with drug possession in that county on Thursday has been remanded in custody. Ormands Buza, Rock Court, Ballinagh was charged with possession of one kilo of cannabis valued at €20,000 at Rahardrum, Virginia, Co Cavan.
Detective Garda Keith Maguire gave evidence of having stopped and searched the man’s vehicle. He had then arrested the accused. The detective said the accused was the owner of the vehicle but that he was accompanied by another person. He added that the accused had no warrant interest and was cooperative at the scene of the arrest. The man had been living in Ireland for the last eight years.
Judge Eirinn McKiernan remanded the accused in custody to Monaghan District court on 1 st April . Solicitor Niall Fox was assigned to the accused’s defence.
