Three Romanian women who appeared at Navan District Court charged with theft in a Co Meath store were told by a judge to leave the country by tomorrow. Jessica Gesia (21) with an address at Beaumont Road, Beaumont, Dublin, Esmeranda Dumitru (24), with an address at Swiftbrook Avenue, Tallaght, Dublin and Beatrice Serdaru (19), also with an address at Swiftbrook Avenue, Tallaght were charged with theft of cosmetics valued at €3,922.11 from Boots store in Ashbourne last Wednesday (08.04.26).

The court was told by Gardai who carried out the arrests had objected to bail on the grounds that the three women had come over from England and that they were considered a flight risk. Solicitor Teresa Coyle defending Beatrice Serdaru said the three people had been in England and “decided to visit Ireland”.

Judge Ciaran Liddy at first refused bail and intended remanding the accused in custody. However, after guilty pleas to the theft charges were entered he went on to convict. In each case he imposed a six-month prison sentence suspended for two years with the condition that all three leave the Republic by tomorrow (Saturday) and that they should stay out of the country for two years.
