A 39-year-old woman was alleged to have threatened a Garda after she was arrested for a public order offence. Orla Staunton, Milltown Meadows, Ashbourne was arrested at Navan Shopping Centre on 9th March last for using threatening, abusive and insulting behaviour with intent to provoke a breach of the peace for being reckless as to whether a breach of the peace might have been occasioned contrary to Section 6 of the Criminal Justice (Public Order) Act 1994 as amended by Section 22 of the Intoxicating Liquor Act 2008.
She was also charged with being intoxicated in a public place. Garda Tom Maguire gave evidence of arrest at Trim District Court. He said that when charged at 18.37 on the date in question the accused said that she would “f**k your family up”. He said that he had spoken to the woman by phone and that she had said she would turn up in court. When the accused failed to appear Judge Ciaran Liddy issued a warrant for her arrest.
The defendant appeared later in the court session and was fined €350.00 by the judge.
