A 28-year-old native of Estonia who was said to have 119 previous convictions appeared at Trim District Court on theft charges.
Rainis Koovit, with an address at Paramount Hotel, Exchange Street Upper, Dublin was charged with theft at Supervalu Enfield between 31 st October and 11 th November last year. He faced eight different charges at the Trim court to a total of €3,069.51.
One of the charges read that he had stolen alcohol and groceries to the value of €420.50, the property of Supervalu, c/o Francisca Maria Abreu contrary to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud offences) Act 2001 and he was sentenced on that charge. Defending barrister Paul Noctor said that his client was in custody at the moment. He asked Judge Ciaran Liddy not to extend the man’s period of custody. The judge imposed a 12-month prison sentence, suspending the final six months of that sentence.
