A Song For Charity has recently launched on YouTube written by Dublin native Christy Fleming, who has lived in Mornington for over 20 years. He tells Meath Live he wrote, “Glowing From Within” as a poem after a friend was diagnosed with some health issues. This got me thinking about homeless people sleeping in parks, couch surfing, and sleeping rough on our streets, it got me thinking as to what chance does a homeless person have to manage and fully heal from infections, arthritis and diseases such as cancer if they don’t have the security and safety of a warm home to go home to.”
The words now in song was recorded, produced and is sung by Fiach Moriarty, pictured above, to the tune of Bob Dylan’s classic hit from the sixties “Blowing In The Wind”. As many people would know Bob Dylan has been described as one of the greatest singer/songwriters of all time.
The theme of our song “Glowing From Within” is about cancer, homelessness and mental health issues that impact the lives of thousands of families right across Ireland and further. Christy has had his own family and friends suffer from cancer and he is hoping the song will resonate with people who find themselves dealing with the toughness and reality of trying to survive in tough situations.
He goes on to to say the song is also to help charity and an opportunity to help raise awareness about the work of Friends of St Luke’s Cancer Charity and Liberty Soup Run Homeless Charity.
