A man with a Dunboyne address who allegedly engaged in social welfare fraud is the subject of an arrest warrant after he failed to appear in court. Biyi Jacob Abiola of The Court, Dunboyne Castle, Dunboyne was prosecuted at Navan District Court for four counts of alleged fraud on 5th December 2021.

The prosecution was in the name of the Minister for Social Protection. State solicitor for Meath Liam Keane said that defendant made two separate false declarations claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance and saying that he was unemployed and available for work. The court was told that he was in full-time employment at the time.

Two Department of Social Protection officials gave evidence in the case as did the director of a company in Balbriggan who gave evidence that he had employed the defendant at the same time as he was making the declarations about being unemployed. Defending solicitor Maurice Regan said that his client was not in court. Judge Eirinn McKiernan issued a bench warrant for his arrest.
