Luke Combs brings ‘My Kinda Saturday Night Tour’ to Slane Castle this coming July, on Saturday 18th July and Sunday 19th July, with back to back dates. The concerts will draw huge numbers to the natural amphitheater sitting on the banks of the river Boyne, overlooked by Slane Castle, having ran iconic concerts of over the years. The original  brainchild of the late Henry Mountcharles, the concert now rolls on with his son Alex now holding the reigns.  A lot of work went on in the background as it will over two days this year, and with agreement reached with all stakeholders, the country and western concert will bring a new dimension to Slane and surrounds.

Meath County Council has confirmed that an event licence has been issued to MCD Productions in respect of two concerts at Slane Castle this July. The return of live music to Slane marks an important moment for the venue and reflects its longstanding reputation as one of Ireland’s most iconic outdoor concert locations, with significant cultural and economic value for the county and the wider region.

€61,000 Community Fund Established

In advance of the licence issuing, there has been a significant level of engagement between the event organiser and members of the local community. As part of this engagement, MCD has committed to the establishment of a €61,000 community fund to support local initiatives in the Slane area, representing a clear and tangible local benefit arising from events of this scale. Meath County Council will administer this fund, ensuring that it delivers a meaningful benefit for the local community.

In addition, the event organiser has engaged with local organisations in relation to opportunities arising from the concerts. This includes supporting on-site participation by local groups as part of the Deposit Return Scheme, while also providing opportunities for clubs and organisations to be involved in the delivery of the events through volunteer support.

Clear And Tangible Benefits

MCD has also made concert tickets available to members of the local community, further supporting local involvement in the events. Chief Executive Kieran Kehoe said, “There has been a significant level of engagement locally in advance of these events. The establishment of a community fund ensures that there will be a clear and tangible benefit for the local area alongside the return of concerts to Slane, which is a very positive outcome.”

The Council recognises that events of this scale require careful planning and coordination. Work will continue in the lead-up to July to support the safe and effective delivery of the concerts, while maintaining an appropriate balance between cultural, economic and community considerations.
