Johnny Guirke TD and Diego Keegan PC have today made a formal submission to Meath County Council regarding the proposed plans for Dunville Community Park in Johnstown. Teachta Guirke said: “In our submission, we have welcomed the publication of the plans and the significant investment being made by Meath County Council into long overdue recreational and community infrastructure in the area.

“For decades, residents of Johnstown have consistently highlighted the lack of community amenities, recreational space, and facilities for young people and families in what is now one of the fastest growing communities in County Meath. The progression of this project would be a very positive and welcome step forward for the area.

Diego Keegan PC said: “The proposed Dunville Community Park represents a substantial improvement in local infrastructure and will provide a high quality public amenity for residents of all ages. In our submission, we also commended the officials and staff involved in bringing this project to this stage after many years of delay and frustration for local residents.

“At the same time we highlighted that there remains a clear need for a dedicated community centre or multi-purpose indoor community space in Johnstown. This has been consistently raised by residents, voluntary groups and sports clubs over the years.

“We have asked Meath County Council to continue examining whether a community building element could still form part of the overall long term vision for Dunville ore the immediate surrounding area.

“Importantly, we also stated that this request is not intended to detract from the very positive nature of what is currently proposed. The plans presented are welcome and represent meaningful progress for the people of Johnstown after many years of engagement on this matter”.
