Dundalk Stadium was a buzz of excitement on Saturday (15th August), with one of the busiest race days in years for the annual Family Funday & Dual Race Day sponsored by BAR 1 Betting. The day attracted big crowds to enjoy the kids zone and dual racing, fantastic live music, and there was an electric atmosphere from early afternoon to late evening.

The Dual Race Day programme featured an exciting mix of horse and greyhound racing, with the final of the BAR 1 Betting Irish Sprint Cup; the feature event that evening. Attendees witnessed TIERMANA DREAM, trained by Colm Fitzgerald be a runaway winner. Owned by the Zero Zero Syndicate in Co Clare, the son of Ballyhimkin Jet and Tiermana Jetty came into the stake with a huge reputation as one of the fastest two bend performers in Ireland.

The afternoon horse racing was sponsored by BAR 1 Betting and Irish Stallion Farms EBF who sponsored the afternoon feature race, The Irish Stallion Farms EBF Red God Premier Handicap which was won by Touch The Moon under Chris Hayes and for trainer William Durkan, owned by Four D Partnership.

All the fun and action of a day/evening at Dundalk Stadium, the only venue in Europe that can run a dual horse racing and greyhound racing with top class restaurant and food and bar facilities with live entertainment and fun for all the family. A great day out as can be seen from the pictures.

The Family Funday kids zone was enjoyed by many families with free pony rides, a play bus, face painters, magician and inflatable slide & games plus the new option this year of ‘pay per ride’ carnival amusements, an ice cream & sweet treats van. Live music kept the crowd energised into the evening with performances from bands Vertigo and Paddy Byrne followed by 17 Vending DJ.
