Navan ………………………64
Dundalk …………………….0
Balreask Old, Navan.
(Half-Time: 38-0)
Rugby made a triumphant return under the Friday night lights at Balreask Old as Navan RFC Men’s J1/2nd XV hosted North-East rivals Dundalk RFC in the first round of the Leinster Jenkinson Cup. In a dominant performance, a Navan squad boasting a fine mix of experienced heads and dynamic youth ran in ten tries to secure an emphatic 64-0 victory.
Navan set a blistering pace right from the opening whistle. Offloading with precision and attacking space at every opportunity, the home side built a commanding 38-0 lead by half-time, effectively putting the contest beyond reach. The momentum continued into the second half as Navan’s relentless attack and disciplined defense kept Dundalk scoreless for the full game, capping off a 64-point clinical display.
The night also marked the welcome return of Ben McEntagart, who featured prominently in an impressive Navan backline. Navan progress to the second round of the Jenkinson Cup, where they will face fellow county Meath side Athboy in an exciting local derby.
Date, venue, and kick-off time will be announced shortly.
