Cllr Joe Bonner Independent councillor based in Ashbourne has this week announced the date for the September Community Event taking place on Saturday, 19th September. Over the years the community have availed of the events which he and his team have run to keep costs affordable to all a making use of the events which draw crowds from locally and east Meath and north county Dublin.
The poll topping councillor and his team put a huge effort in planning, organising and running the day to the best practices. This is the 21st year running the community recycling events and in a statement Cllr Bonner told Meath Live.
He said, ” This year marks 21 years of our Community Recycling Events. We started the initiative with a small group of dedicated volunteers after recognising the need for a convenient and affordable recycling service for local communities. What began as a local initiative has grown into a national award-winning event.
Over the past 21 years, we have organised events across Meath East, collecting more than 3,263 tonnes of bulky household waste. These events have helped thousands of residents dispose of items responsibly, increased environmental awareness and reduced the amount of bulky waste dumped along roadsides, in drains and in ditches.
Cllr Joe Bonner highlights the significant benefits of the community events over the last 21 years.
These 21 years of recycling would not have been possible without the dedication of our volunteers, whose hard work and generosity have been essential to the success of every event. We also acknowledge our service providers, Thornton’s Recycling and ERP, who have partnered with us since day one and whose professionalism and commitment have helped us deliver a high-quality service.
