Meath Comes Together to Launch Christmas Campaign Celebrating the
Mí Meath Gift Card
Business leaders, Meath County Council and GAA representatives join forces to encourage
people to Gift Meath this Christmas and support businesses across the county with the Mí Meath
Prepaid Gift Card.
County Meath Chamber is calling on consumers, employers and businesses to get behind the
campaign, to spread the word and to choose Mí Meath gift cards as the perfect gift to share this
Christmas. At the official launch of its Mí Meath gift card Christmas Awareness Campaign, business
representatives, Meath County Council and GAA stakeholders came together for a special photocall to
champion the county’s own gift card and to encourage consumers and employers to keep their
Christmas gifting local.
Under the campaign message ” Gift Meath This Christmas. One Card. So Many Possibilities. All in
Meath” the initiative aims to raise awareness of the incredible choice available to Mí Meath Gift Card
holders and to encourage more people to discover the gift card and where they can spend it throughout
the county.
Developed by County Meath Chamber, with support from Meath County Council, the Mí Meath Gift
Card is a prepaid gift card that can be used at over 200 participating businesses throughout County
Meath. Accepted at all kinds of retail outlets, both local and national, supermarkets, restaurants,
hotels, beauty and wellness providers, leisure and tourist attractions and other services, the Mí Meath
gift card offers recipients the freedom to choose an item or experience they’ll enjoy right here in County
Meath.
A Christmas Gift That Gives Back to Meath
Whether it’s a Christmas present for family and friends or a thank-you gift for employees and
colleagues, Mí Meath gift cards offer a practical and meaningful alternative to national gift cards, with
the added benefit of keeping spending within the county, directly supporting Meath businesses and
local jobs.
The Chamber is encouraging Meath employers to consider Mí Meath gift cards when rewarding their
teams this Christmas. Under Revenue’s Small Benefit Exemption, employers can provide qualifying
non-cash benefits of up to €1,500 per employee annually, tax-free, subject to the scheme’s
conditions. For personal buyers looking to gift a family member or friend, the Mí Meath gift card can be
loaded with amounts from €15 – €150
Speaking at the launch, Paula McCaul, CEO County Meath Chamber, said:
“Mí Meath is about bringing our county together. We want everyone in Meath to know just how much
choice the Mí Meath gift card offers recipients. From everyday shopping to special treats and
experiences, there’s something for everyone. When you choose to by a Mí Meath gift card, you’re not
just giving someone a lovely gift – you are supporting local businesses, you are protecting local jobs
and helping your local community thrive. It’s a win, win! Imagine the difference we can make if we all
get behind Mí Meath this Christmas.”
Mí Meath is all about keeping spend local and supporting vibrant town centres, encouraging people
back onto our high streets and celebrating the personal experience of shopping locally, meeting the
people behind local businesses and enjoying everything Meath’s towns and communities have to offer.
Hundreds of retailers, hospitality, leisure and service businesses across County Meath are already
accepting the Mí Meath Gift Card, with more local businesses being encouraged to join the growing
network by both accepting the card and offering it for sale in their premises. By working together,
businesses across the county can keep more spending in Meath, support local jobs and help town
centres thrive.
Kieran Kehoe, CEO Meath County Council, had this to say at the Mí Meath Christmas 2026 launch:
“Christmas is an especially important time for businesses across County Meath, and choosing to
spend locally is one of the most meaningful ways we can support them. The Mí Meath Gift Card makes
that choice easy, giving recipients an extensive range of places to shop, eat, visit and enjoy across the
county while ensuring that spending continues to benefit our local economy. Meath County Council is
proud to support this campaign alongside County Meath Chamber and the many businesses involved.
By choosing Mí Meath gift cards this Christmas, individuals and employers can give a great gift while
also supporting local jobs, vibrant town centres and communities right across our county.”
