Robbie Horgan managed Trim Celtic withstood a second half comeback from a spirited Bellurgan United to win yesterday afternoon’s NEFL Challenge Cup Final by 3-2

Played in freezing cold weather at theĀ  MDL Grounds in Navan, the game got off to a slow start, but two goals before the break from Dean Courtney gave Trim a cushion at the interval.

Bellurgan replied early on in the second half, when Emmet Rogan’s free-kick found the net, before Conor Watters leveled the game

The decisive moment arrived late on when Conor Walsh’s strike was deflected into the back of the Bellurgan goal. The North Louth side pressed for a second equaliser late on, but were unable to breach the Trim defence, with Robbie Horgan’s team hanging on to secure the League and Cup double
