Drogheda based football club Abbey Celtic who play at Mell, alongside the Boyne, have been the victims of what appears to be an arson attack that has caused thousands of euros damage.
They posted on their Facebook page last night, saying, ‘Hi all unfortunately we got a call this evening from the local Gardai to tell us that our container was set on fire.we went down and its ruined along with our nets balls marker and training equipment.To some it might not be a big deal but to us its everything.’
The club have vowed to fulfil a NEFL fixture scheduled for next Saturday.
