The owners of Tara Mines Boliden, and the SIPTU, Connect and Unite trade unions say they have recommended the acceptance of proposals to provide enhanced supports to workers laid-off during the temporary closure of Tara Mines.
Agreement was reached on a series of measures following a number of meetings which concluded in the early hours of this morning
Boliden says the agreement includes support packages for employees while the mine is placed into a period of care and maintenance, a plan for this period as well as a review process.
The proposals were brokered at the WRC early this morning.
However, the Swedish company which owns the mine outside Navan has reiterated that the facility will a enter a period of care and maintenance next Friday as planned.
