It was a great day for all the Harry’s today at Cheltenham but is was a good day for Meath trainers as Messrs. Cromwell

and Elliott recorded good their first wins of the festival with Inothewayurthinkin (13/8F) and Teahupoo (5/4F) both going off as favourites. Cromwell charge defied a very slow start and was jumping big and slow.

Where he was, you’d have given him little chance after a terrible start but the ever experienced Derek O’Connor was able to  compose the six year old

and find his themselves well in control from about a mile out. They made their way home and made the 3m 2f on soft ground look a walk in the park !

It was an excellent piece of horsemanship were O’Connor put it simply ” all plan a,b, c, and d went out the window”.

Meanwhile Teahupoo (5/4) also justified favouritism too with win in Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle over 3 mile. In the race the top six home had all Irish connections.

Gavin Cromwell finished second with Flooring Porter (9/1).

The English connections had a great day today with the Skeleton’s getting a fine double up with Grey Dawning (5/2) in the first race and Protektorat (17/2) in the third race.

Harry Skeleton riding both of them, another Harry Cobden landing a 25/1 in the 2m 4f Turners Novice. Then the Harry Redknapp’s owned Shakem Up’Arry  (8/1) went clear of the field to win but held on from the Jonjo O’Neill Jr. Crebilly’s. A good day for the Harrys’ with Sir Alex Ferguson a share in Protekrat.

Tomorrow see’s the finale with the Boodles Cheltenham Gold Cup and favourite Galopin Des Champs looks hard to oppose at evens, This festival will also

be remembered as the year Willie Mullins hit the ton, with the hundreth winner aptly rode by his ‘amateur’ son Patrick.

What an achievement. Thinking back to 1986 when Paddy Mullins trained Dawn Run to get up in an incredible finish and race to get past Wayward Lad, Forgive’n’Forget and

Run and Skip great horses in their own right but as the late Peter O’Sullivan said ‘the mare is beginning to get up’ and get up she did.

It put the Mullins name on the racing map that day and the Mullins dynasty continues.
