Peter Cooke was a well known character, wherever and whatever he was involved in
was remembered at an annual golf competition by friends in Kells.
When he arrived in Navan, the Bandon native, was working as a farm manager before
joining Tara Mines. In sport, he was involved with Knockharley Cricket Club and Headfort
Golf Club, always prepared to give 100% in the various roles he played or involved.
He was one of the key men who helped the cricket club go forward and today they
now own their own pitch and pavilion, thanks to their commitment.
Last Friday, some of his friends came together to play in the Peter Cooke Memorial.
Peter passed away in November 2011 after a short illness but his memory lives on
in his family and friends. His son Graham presented the trophy to this years
winner, Thomas Blake, at his old club in Headfort
