As the seats start to fill on the 40 available positions, all 11 elected membersĀ  are incumbents.

Its been a great day for the independent’s Noel French 3,953, Gillian Toole 3,158 and Joe Bonner

2685 with there number one’s has been the main talking point. The overall percentage of the votes

being 29.4% and there will be more to come.

Sharon Tolan will have built up credibility and may look for move up the political ladder when

as the next general election looms for FG nomination.

Next time round Meath East will be contested as a 4 seater with the spiraling growth in population.

When that will be is in the hands of government, Helen McEntee pointed

to the energy and drive Simon Harris has brought to Fine Gael since Leo Varadkar stood down.

You could advocate he has brought the ”Harris Bounce” to these elections. Time will tell.

Sarah Reilly FG topped the polls in Kells and was followed in on the second seat by Eugene Cassidy.

NOBBERMAN SECOND HOME ANOTHER FOR FINE GAEL

Pictured above a jubilant Eugene Cassidy, Anne Sweeney and John V Farrelly.

He spoke of the recentĀ  opening of the new Greenway that he was instrumental it getting commissioned

years ago. The Fine Gaeler, now in local government since 2004 was in thankful forĀ  the support

ofĀ  loyal voters in north Meath. This too was the message from Joe Fox in Summerhill who was deeply thankful

to his supporters. Maria Murphy FGĀ  also got elected on the first count with Toole NP in Ratoath.

Eddie Fennessy SF topping the poll in Navan in what appears toĀ  be a ‘battle in the ditches’ with possible

3 or 4 fighting for the last two seats in Navan. It looks like there will be a new face in town but who it will be will

be dependent on transfers. It would be foolish to make predictions but fair to say Tommy Reilly and Yemi

Adenuga will be in the scrap for these seats. We are still waiting for a second count in Navan and tomorrow will

tell the tale.

Emer TĆ³ibĆn safely got home too on the first count and AontĆŗ would hope to pick up more seats in the county.

There is still plenty to play, Fianna Fail will start filling seats tomorrow.

As of this morning;

FG 5 seats

NP 4 seats

SFĀ  1Ā  seat

ATĀ  1 seat
