Plans for a new Cultural Quarter in Navan have been given a huge boost with the news that funding for the restoration of the old St Pat’s Study Hall at St Finian’s Terrace has been approved. The procurement process has now begun and it is hoped ground will be broken on the site in November, according to the town’s Mayor Cllr Eddie Fennessy.
He said that this was a hugely significant project for Navan. “When completed the old study hall will house the county archive and provide community space for local groups. The project is a long time in the making and I’m delighted to say that it will be delivered over the next two years. I thank Meath County Council for securing the funding and I also pay tribute to the Navan and District Historical Society and Meath Archaeological and Historical Society for their research and contribution to this project over many years.” The Navan Cultural Quarter project is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union through the ERDF Southern, Eastern and Midland Regional Programme 2021-2027.
