A 39-year-old man who has 14 previous convictions including two for driving without insurance narrowly escaped going to prison when he appeared at Trim District Court. Slawomir Stasiuk, Athlumney Castle, Navan was charged with insurance and driving licence offences. The court heard that in 2022 he had been convicted of drunken driving and and had been disqualified for three years.

Last year he was convicted of driving without insurance, was disqualified for four years and given a four-month suspended prison sentence. On Tuesday this week Judge Eirinn McKiernan convicted him of driving a tractor without insurance. She delivered a four-month prison sentence suspended for 12 months and issued another disqualification for four years.

An arrest warrant was issued for Dwayne Geraghty (22), Blackwater Close, Enfield who failed to appear to answer a summons for driving while uninsured.
