A 45-year-old man with a Co Meath address has appeared at a local court charged with alleged possession of cash suspected to be the proceeds of crime. Desmond Brown, Clongill, Wilkinstown was charged with possession of €71,000 suspected to be the proceeds of crime at his address on 25th June last. He was also charged with alleged cultivation of cannabis on the same date.
Detective Garda Marguerite Reilly of the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau gave evidence of having arrested the accused at Navan Garda Station. She said that when cautioned the accused made no reply to the charges. When the Garda said she had no objection to bail, Judge Peter White remanded the accused on bail to Trim District Court on 2nd of September next with the following conditions – sign on at Navan Garda Station on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays between 9am and 9pm; provide a phone number to Gardai; not to apply for travel documents; observe a curfew from 9pm to 6am; Reside at the address given on his charge sheet; have no contact by any means with any co-accused.
