Report Paul Murphy
Newgrange and its satellite sites at Knowth and Dowth have been given high-profile treatment in an article in one of Britain’s prominent archaeological magazine. A photograph of Meath’s famous UNESCO monument graces the front page of Current Archaeology (circulation 45,000) in its September edition, just published.
The article runs under the heading ‘Chambers of secrets – what tombs can tell us about Neolithic society in Ireland’. In her letter to readers editor Carly Hilts writes that recent analysis has shed intriguing light on the people who were buried within these grand monuments – and on the structure of the societies that they belonged to.
