Report Paul Murphy
Works on the Circle K junction in Navan have been delayed because of a funding shortfall, Navan Municipal District councillors have been told. Fine Gael Cllr Yemi Adenuga had sought an update on the planned works on the Proudstown Road. A public consultation on the plans was carried out in 2023.

She asked for the reasons behind the delay and also drew attention to red light crashing and illegal exits from the Circle K service station. She said there was a serious risk to schoolchildren attending St Oliver Plunkett and St Paul’s schools. A new safety scheme was planned for the junction of Beaufort Place, Blackcastle and the service station including two extra controlled pedestrian crossings.

Officials said the scheme was ready to go but was knocked back because the tender prices returned were significantly higher than budget
forecasts. The local authority did not have funds available for the work, the officials added.
Consultations are going on between the county council and Circle K to have entrance and boundary works completed in order to control traffic movements in and out of the station. (Above image Google View)
