The Drogheda Slane branch of the Organisation of National Ex-Service Personnel are looking for a drop-in veteran support centre. Louth Councillor Michelle Hall pictured above, whose father Michael Smith is a retired member of the Defence Forces and the holder of the Distinguished Service Medal and her sister Joanne Thornton was also in the Defence Forces, arranged a collaborative meeting between ONE charity and Louth County Council Director of Corporate Services Joanna Kelly with a view to discussing how the veterans’ organisation could get a suitable drop-in centre in Drogheda.
The ONE CEO Cormac Kirwan and several members of the organisation attended the meeting. Cllr Hall said “We hope that Louth County Council who are reviewing all their estates and leases can help even in the short term.”
