Councillors in Navan have been put on the alert about expected heavy traffic disruption on the North side of town when road works take place over 10 days in late October early November. The warning came from Meath County Council Director of Services Martin Murray at a meeting of Navan Municipal District Council on Wednesday.

He council were discussing the Local Distributor Road 4 Abbeylands Navan scheme which comprises the provision of a new multi-modal transport corridor that will span the river Blackwater from the N51/R147 Kells Road to the L3409 Ratholdron Road. He warned that there would be “a difficult 10 days when we actually physically go onto the
road”.

“It is going to cause trouble in terms of queues”. While it was temporary he wanted councillors to know that there would be difficulty for a week to 10 days. He was sure that councillors would get a lot of representations from the public about the disruption but they needed to know why the disruption would be happening. Sinn Fein Cllr Edie Fennessy said that the details could be put up on social media so that everyone was aware of what was happening.
