Yesterday evening the Fire Service attended a fire at Ryan’s of Ratoath. There was substantial damage to the premises that have been shuttered and closed for a long time, At this stage it is too early to say what or how the fire started.
Local councillor Nick Killian described his shock at learning of the news that a once famous bar and restaurant had been destroyed by the fire. ”In its heyday it was an iconic building and business in the village. I have nothing but great memories of Ryan’s, famous for its steaks, the place everyone would go to after racing or celebrating family and social events. People came from far and wide to it, it was so well regarded.”
”My daughter worked there too, in her younger days, it was such a popular spot that brought plenty of employment over the years. Maybe now the owners will consider redeveloping the site. It is in a key location in the village and if it can be developed to bring back some commercial activity that will benefit to the village , that would be great. But tonight, I’m saddened to see this once iconic building to end up this way. It really is a sad day for all of us who here in Ratoath.”
