A scene was preserved early this morning, Monday, 22 December 2025,  so an examination could be conducted by members of An Garda Síochána. This examination has concluded, and early investigations indicate that foul play is not suspected as the cause of the fire. An Garda Síochána has left the scene, and the building has been handed back to Meath Civil Defence. Despite the damage to the building, Meath Civil Defence will continue to operate as normal over the Christmas and New Year period.

Speaking earlier today, Chief Executive of Meath County Council Kieran Kehoe said: “I would like to commend Meath County Council Fire and Rescue Service and Meath Civil Defence for their fantastic work to contain and limit the spread of the fire. “I would also like to acknowledge the phenomenal support received by our Civil Defence colleagues around the country over the past 24 hours.”

The arson attack that caused considerable damage to McQuaid’s Pharmacy earlier this month. The good people of Oldcastle rallied to their support.

In another incident in Oldcastle that saw an arson attack in McQuaid’s Pharmacy has reopened in temporary premises on the square in the town. The owner, Donna McQuaid has thanked the local community for their support, thanking ” the good people of Oldcastle who have rallied around us”

Sinn Féin Td Johnny Guirke has condemned the  attack that took place in Oldcastle of Co. Meath , which seen the local pharmacy alight. Advising anyone who knew anything about the act to contact the Gardai.  He said ” The people of Oldcastle will support the owner, the workers, and the local community through this time, and we must ensure the culprit is found and those that have incited this hatred in Oldcastle are called out.” he concluded.
