Kilbride………………..0-20

Castletown……………..1-16

It’s not often any final lives up to its pre match hype but this one did. It is equally rare a team scores 1-16 and loses but Castletown did as Kilbride did enough to lift the Meade Farm Intermediate Championship.

When Kevin Rosses last gasp 45 drifted wide, the red and green hordes erupted in celebration as Kilbride, kingpins of the Keegan Cup back in the sixties returned to the senior ranks. Anthony Moyles side owed much to their twin threats of Josh Harford and David O’Leary who contributed a fabulous fourteen points between them for the winners who led 11-to 1-7 at the interval.

The losers goal came when top scorer David Finney finished off a slick passing move which edged them in front before Kilbride kicked back to regain the advantage. As Ross watched his late effort go the wrong side of the upright it ended what was an epic encounter.

Kilbride scorers: David O’Leary 0-9, Josh Harford 0-5, Conor McWeeney and Finn White 0-2 each, Andrew McWeeney and Timmy Farrell 0-1 each
Castletown scorers: Darren Finney 1-5, Rian McConnell, Declan Cribben, Darragh Kelly, Kevin Ross and Darragh Weldon 0-2 each, Adam Matthews 0-1
