All of the five people who died in a two-vehicle road tragedy in Louth last night were aged under 25.
Three other people were injured in the crash which has left the region in shock. A collision took place between a VW car and a Toyota Landcruiser on the Ardee Rd Dundalk at Gibstown at around 9pm. All of the deceased were in the VW Golf. Another man travelling in the Landcruiser car was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda with non-life-threatening injuries. Some of the victims are reported to be from Carrick across, with another from Drumconrath and another from Scotland. Superintendent Charlie Armstrong Dundalk Garda Station said the tragedy would have a deep effect on local communities and he extended his condolences to all of the families of the deceased and injured.
