A 38-year-old father of three with 120 previous convictions has been jailed for a series of shop thefts around Navan. Graham Sharkey, Tailteann Drive, Navan appeared at Trim District Court. The court was told the thefts occurred at Dunnes Stores, Tesco, and Centra involving amounts of €55, €100, €40, and €37.50. The defendant’s most recent offences were in May this year when he received prison sentences of one and two months. Defending barrister James O’Brien told Judge Eirinn McKiernan that defendant had certain difficulties including the death of a member of his family by unlawful killing. The judge sentenced defendant to two terms of imprisonment of two months, to run consecutively.
