Three men in their 30s who punched and kicked another man were given the probation act after paying between them a total of €3,500 in compensation. Ivan (34 ) and Sean Bell (36 ) of Cloney Grange and Tower Court in Ballivor along with Kevin Farrelly (36) of Ballyboy, Athboy pleaded guilty at Trim District Court in early October to charges of assault following two separate incidents on June 4 2023.
Judge Eirinn McKiernan allowed them until Tuesday last to pay €1, 000 each in the case of the Bells and Farrelly the sum of €1, 500. The court heard on the October date the injured party was assaulted inside and outside licensed premises in Athboy where he was with his partner. In the first incident inside the premises the injured party was punched in the face sustaining a cut and left his nose bleeding.
In the second incident the injured party was outside the front door smoking when he was punched and received a number of kicks.
