Members of the public across County Meath are being encouraged to share their views on community safety as part of the development of the Meath Local Community Safety Plan. They have launched a public consultation survey, providing an opportunity for people living, working, and visiting Meath to highlight the issues that matter most to them and help shape future priorities.
The consultation will run from 19th May to 14th June and will include a countywide survey alongside a series of focus groups and local engagement events. The survey invites feedback on a wide range of topics, including perceptions of safety, anti-social behaviour, road safety, and issues affecting communities across Meath. The findings will directly inform the development of a high-level Community Safety Plan for the county.
Speaking about the launch, Chairperson of the Meath Community Safety Partnership, Ciarán Flynn, said: “Community safety is about how people feel in their everyday lives — in their homes, their neighbourhoods, and their towns and villages. This survey is an important opportunity for people across Meath to have their voices heard and to help shape the priorities for the years ahead.
“We want to hear from as many people as possible, from all backgrounds and communities. Whether you feel safe or have concerns, your experience matters. The stronger the participation, the stronger and more effective our Community Safety Plan will be.”
The Meath Local Community Safety Partnership brings together representatives from local agencies, An Garda Síochána, community organisations, and elected members to work collaboratively on improving safety and wellbeing across the county.
The consultation process is designed to be inclusive and accessible, ensuring that a wide range of voices — including young people, older persons, businesses, minority groups, and local residents — are reflected in the final plan.
Ciarán Flynn added: “This is about building safer, stronger communities together. Everyone has a role to play, and this consultation ensures that the plan reflects real experiences and practical solutions.” Members of the public are encouraged to complete the survey online and to take part in upcoming engagement events taking place across the county over the coming weeks.
