RTÉ KIDS’ hit family series The Big Pet Project is back for 2026 – and the team is on the lookout for Ireland’s most extraordinary pets and the people who love them. Do you have a pet that can do something unusual, surprising or downright hilarious? From surfing dogs and painting ponies to goal-scoring turtles.
The Big Pet Project celebrates the weird, wonderful and talented animals living all across Ireland. Presented by Demi Isaac Oviawe and Adam Beales, the show follows their adventures in the “Pet Mobile” as they travel the country meeting passionate young pet owners and their incredible animals.
Following a successful first series, which featured everything from axolotls in Belfast and pygmy goats in Donegal to giant millipedes in Galway and an oversized pig in Dublin, the show is now filming brand new episodes across Ireland – including Fermanagh, Cork, Laois, Limerick, Waterford, Wexford and Meath.
” We had a lot of fun on The Big Pet Project,” says presenter Demi Isaac Oviawe. “I couldn’t believe some of the unusual pets people have – and the talents they’ve trained them to do. I can’t wait to see who we’re going to meet this year!”
Produced by HopSkip Studios for RTÉ KIDS, with additional funding from Northern Ireland Screen, The Big Pet Project is a fast-paced, feel-good celebration of the special bond between children, families and their pets. All episodes of series one are streaming now on RTÉ Player.
