We’ve another jam-packed Flat meeting to enjoy at Fairyhouse on Wednesday evening, with eight races on the card including the Group Three Stanerra Stakes, accompanied by a variety of maidens, handicaps, claimers and rated races. Read on for a preview of and tips for the Fairyhouse card, brought to you by BetVictor Online Casino.
We begin with a three-year-olds’ claiming race over 10 furlongs (16.38). The Colin Keane-ridden Zitkala Sa showed significant improvement last time at Gowran Park and might keep consistent with that form here. Pass The Buck could be good here in a first-time visor after a solid run last time at Limerick and comes from a successful stable.
Next is a six-furlong two-year-olds fillies’ maiden (17.08). Five of the 10 runners are debutants, which makes this a hard race to call, but there is some good form brought by a couple of the pre-raced runners. Argentarius was a very close second of 14 on debut and should factor, while Golden Ring is an attractive newcomer for Coolmore.
Race three is a six-furlong colts and geldings’ maiden (17.40). Only three of the eight juveniles here have raced before, the best of which having been Ger Lyons’ La Tache, who wears blinkers this time. City Of Gold catches the eye for Coolmore, having cost €400,000 as a yearling, while Supreme Lord holds some smart entries for Amo Racing.
The fourth race is a rated race over a mile and three quarters (18.15). JP McManus’ Light Up The Dark was a winner last time at Gowran Park but might prefer softer ground. Royal Hollow might not mind the firmer going here and looks competitive, while Sir Callisto might get involved too.
Our feature race, the Group Three Stanerra Stakes run over the mile and three quarter trip, is next for fillies and mares (18.50). Goodie Two Shoes is the highest rated for Joseph O’Brien, but is a lot older than the rest at seven years old. Henry De Bromhead’s Nuit makes some appeal after a solid return to action and has Colin Keane in the saddle. Galileo Dame might br worth thinking about too.
Race six is a seven-furlong maiden (19.25). Storzando and Cladach are the two newcomers, and they look fairly up against it when tasked with beating the likes of Banshof, who has run well so far in maidens. Goomah also has shown plenty of ability and her last start can be ruled out. Passage Of Power, though, is less exposed and more open to improvement.
Second to last is a seven-furlong handicap (20.00). Adrian McGuinness’ Exquisite Aclaim should have a solid chance, now a pound below his latest winning mark and with a five-pound claimer in the saddle and an inside draw. Glory To Be might also run well after a close second at this track last time.
Last of all is another seven-furlong handicap (20.30). Contrary To Law and Belle Buit make their handicap debuts here, the former probably having the best chance of the two here. Hugo’s Girl has been consistent this term and looks handy under Billy Lee, but Loingseoir could be the winner here under five-pound claimer Jack Cleary.
