The Ladies Day programme featured an exciting mix of Horse and Greyhound Racing, with the renowned Time Dundalk International proving to be a standout event of the day. Attendees witnessed Ballycowen Frank emerge victorious amongst an outstanding lineup, snatching an impressive new track record of 29.26. The winning greyhound was trained by Michael O’Donovan and owned by Debbie Doyle and Dean Harpur.
It was blistering pace from O’Donovan trained Ballycowen Frank in trap 5 that put it to bed early only Ballymac Ralf in trap 3 breaking well too but couldn’t close to the first bend. Lennies Eddie stumbled out of trap 1 his race was over from the start. Trouble on the first bend also saw Epic Ace lose any chance. It was a done deal as Ballycowen Frank powered on down the back straight and homeward bound to win by 5 lengths and set a new track record of 29.26 in the Time Dundalk International over 550 yards.
Rathkenny trainer Martin Lanney’s Wiffen Gold won the last of a 12 card programme coming out of trap2 to win in 28.82, He also bred the winner of the Geraldine Monerawela 525, Ballyhoe Natalee in the fifth race on the card in a time of 28.41.
Winning connections picked up a winning first prize of €20,000 taking on some of the best middle distance runners around. The next big event will see the final of the Bar 2 Betting Irish Sprint Cup with the final on, Saturday 15th August, another healthy prize fund of €20,000 to the winner on the night. First round heats start this Saturday night with 54 entries.
