The relaunch of Navan Tidy Towns takes places this coming Thursday 7th August, with a meeting to plan for the upcoming months. This follows a cross party agreement by all the the local councillors at the Navan Municipal meeting in June. Following publication of a business litter survey by IBAL (Irish Business Against Litter). Navan stands at 28th out of 40 of the towns and cities throughout Ireland. In first place see Naas with Leixlip in fourth in the table both based in Kildare and known with a dedicated community groups working to keep their towns clean and tidy. The councillors were all in unison to work together and get the Navan Tidy Town up and running again.Â
It was also brought to the attention of the elected members that €1 million is currently spent in the town to maintain the streets are kept clean and bins emptied but there is only so much the council can do. It needs the support of the businesses, the council but above all a community initiative with a passion for the people of the town.
Aontú’s Navan Cllr Emer TóibÃn is urging people to turn out and get involved, saying “Our timing is great with upgrade works to Navan Town Centre. We’re more motivated than ever to boost Navan’s standing on the National Tidy Towns leaderboard.
“ I’m a great believer in the community and the power of togetherness and volunteering is a perfect example of that. Volunteering is one of the best ways to get involved in your community, give something back and make new friends and forge new connections along the way. It doesn’t matter if people have a lot of time to devote or a little , it all helps and is hugely welcome . Join us on Thursday evening to help shape plans for the year ahead.
Go raibh maith agaibh!
