It was great to see the footpaths done up at Rooske in Dunboyne, Fine Gael Cllr Maria Murphy told senior executive engineer for Meath County Council Philip Traynor at the October meeting of Ratoath Municipal District. She had been lobbying for that work to be done, the cllr said. She also raised an issue about the Tidy Towns bin, saying that the area around the green had turned into “a nightmare of works” . The bins were being moved around and this was a bit of a nightmare, she said.

She also raised at issue about a volunteer who had had a really bad fall when she tripped on a loose paving. Cllr Murphy said she had reported an issue about the traffic lights at Mulvany’s. She said that people found that the green light doesn’t come on for them, people come out from transportation, they can’t find a fault and go off again and a few weeks later the fault occurs again. The council
needed to be proactive on this because it was a major crossing point in the village.

The pedestrian cross at St Pal’s School needs to be repainted, Cllr Nick Killian said. The ramp at Meadowbank Hill also needed to be sorted – the potholes are back again, he said. Residents at Woodlands Hall are looking for a bin at the entrance to the estate. Signage at Lagore Lawn had been pulled off the wall, Cllr Fionnan Blake said. Cllr Caroline O’Reilly was told by the engineer that she could have sight of a report on trees in the area. Cllr Yvonne Everard raised an issue about the drainage at Glascarn. Cathaoirleach Brian Fitzgerald said the white line |”is gone completely” at Mulhussey School and he asked that that be rectified.

When the meeting heard mention of potholes, Cllr Gerry O’Connor told how he had been in New York about 10 years ago and was crossing a zebra crossing and encountered “a big pothole” in the middle of the crossing. “I took a photograph of it!” he said.
