Cllr Sharon Tolan was duly elected Cathaoirleach of Laytown/Bettystown MD this Thursday, 12th June,  following her year as Cathaoirleach of Meath County Council. She was proposed by Cllr Wayne Harding the incoming Cathaoirleach of Meath County Council and seconded by Fianna Fail councillors, Cllr Stephen McKee. Sinn Fein councillor Maria White was elected as Leas  Cathaoirleach.

It comes on the continuing success in the district as both beaches Laytown and Bettystown maintained the Blue Flag status as well as adding the Green Flag being only one of ten beaches to succeed in the country. Cllr Tolan expressed her thanks to her nominators and extended congratulations to Cllr White on her election. Cllr Paddy Meade was outgoing Cathaoirleach.
