One of the saddest sights in sport is to see a brilliant boxer go one fight too far and sustain a beating. Similarly some excellent TV shows going one season too far is sad to witness. Such Woz feels is the fate of ‘I’m a Celebrity Get me out of here ‘, which started its latest run (ITV/Virgin) this week and as the stars were dropped on to the Australian jungle by helicopter. The noise from the rotor blades was drowned out by the sound off the bottom of the barrel being scraped.

Woz realised that the only participants he knew were the hosts Ant and Dec one of whom sported a shirt that made the wearer look like he had been caught in an explosion in a paint factory… The best that can be said is that it is on every night viewers get seven chances to miss it.It really should be called:  I’m a Non-Entity Get me out of here’.

On the other hand Only Fools and Horses will never grow old.

Now being shown on UK Gold over the weekends the brilliance of John Sullivans writing is such that although viewers most probably know the lines off by heart they still find them funny. Woz junior even finds it funny proof if needed of its timeless excellence.

MATCH OF THE DAY _ALSO A WINNING FORMULA

Also pretty timeless is Match of the Day (BBC1 Sat 10.30) which despite being a pretty basic studio set up of a presenter and two guests continues to deliver despite the fact the boy Lineacre (copyright Mick Channon) is no longer the host. Alan Shearer, Micah Richards and Danny Murphy talk football sense and we get to see goals which is what the game is all about. Add in an iconic theme tune and you have a ratings winner.
